And Since We've No Place To Go, Let Us Eat, Let Us Sit, Let Us Eat

...Continued from yesterday:
On Saturday morning I suggested we start the day with breakfast at another popular Seaford, Delaware, spot,

...Pizza King,  known by the locals  as PK's, and which, as far as I know, may or may not serve pizza, but which serves very good diner food, and is one of the  places to go for breakfast in Seaford,
Picture
Picture
...the other prime breakfast spot being PK's competitor, the Stargate,
...where we ate the night before (see yesterday's post) and would be destined, before our visit was over, to eat again. And again.
But this morning it was to be PK's,

Picture
...where my mom had a pancake and an egg,
Picture
Picture
...I had what I always have, two sunny-side-up eggs with whatever potato form accompanies the eggs.
Miguel was interested in trying a Pennsylvania Dutch specialty he'd heard of called scrapple, which is meat trimmings mixed with, well, something, mayhaps we don't want to know.
Anyway, he tried - and liked - the scrapple with eggs and French toast.

Claire had a vegetable omelet which she pronounced very good,

...while Tom had the biscuits and gravy, which he pronounced, in truth, not very good.

My grand daughter, on the other hand, was quite pleased with her huge Mickey Mouse pancake.

In retrospect, I found it quite amazing that we, a party of ten, were able to walk into a restaurant at 10 am on a Saturday morning and be immediately seated,
Picture
...just as the ten of us had strolled into the Stargate the evening before, a Friday evening around 6 pm, and were immediately seated there, too.
Such phenomena would be unknown in Columbus, Ohio.
And in Chicago and Los Angeles where my daughters live? Fuggedaboudit!
But this is how it was over the Christmas weekend in Seaford, Delaware, for which we were much grateful.
And it's not even that people in Seaford don't go out to eat; I mean, going out to eat is about the only thing there is to do in Seaford. Besides going to Walmart. And I mean no disparagement to the town; I mean only to point out that Seaford is a very small town. With numerous eating establishments for its size.  And that these establishments seem to be extraordinarily well-equipped to seat big parties, even on holiday weekends.
Anyway, after brunch we returned home,

...and hung out,
Picture
Picture
...discussing places we might  go or things we might do, maybe take a ride out to one of the  beach towns, or maybe a trip to Salisbury, Maryland, where the closest movie theater was.
But ultimately all the adults  really felt like doing was vegging out,
Picture
...while the children, who were delighted with the bar in the corner of the living room,
...carried various Christmas decorations from around the house  into the space,
Picture
Picture
...and pretended that it was their restaurant,
Picture
...and we their customers, to whom they served bowls of ornaments,
Picture
Picture
...bows,
...and other make-believe delicacies.

As the afternoon wore on into evening it occurred to me that it would be nice to have some pie.
So I hauled myself up and over to Walmart to buy some pie fixins, and a few other provisions.

When I returned home with the ingredients some worked on an apple pie,
Picture
...while I had been intending to work on my signature Cherry Almond Streusel pie (see post from 12/12/2016), but instead of buying almonds I accidentally picked up a bag of pecan halves. So I worked on a Cherry Pecan Streusel pie (which, frankly, I was not happy about having to do, but, having messed up on the almonds, what choice had I?).
We all came to the consensus that some take-out pizza from Sal's,

Picture
...a nearby pizzeria that makes the best New York slice this side of New York City,
...would be a splendid idea for dinner, so Claire and Miguel went out to pick us up some Sal's pizzas,
Picture

Picture
...while Justin fixed us some broccoli.
     The pizza was awesome,
Picture
Picture
...as was the broccoli.
The apple pie was likewise a great success,
Picture
Picture
...however the sleeper hit of the evening was the Cherry Pecan Streusel Pie, which everybody declared to be far and away even more delicious than the Cherry Almond Streusel, which we all would have sworn was already at the pinnacle of deliciousness. In fact, it was decided that I should retire the almonds and from now on make only Cherry Pecan Streusel pie.
After our very satisfying and gratifying dinner, we repaired to the living room,
...for a final round of  sitting around,

...and, of course,  playing.
