...Continued from yesterday: On Monday morning it was back to school for the children, picking up friends along the way, ...and walking together over the hilly neighborhood streets. For the grown-ups it was back to work, and my job during my visit, as dictated by my grand daughters, was to keep the family in pizza and apple pie. And this I did. On Wednesday, having run short on pizza-making provisions and being without transportation, I decided to walk to Target, which was two miles away. And so I walked, enjoying the scenery along the way, ...though kind of wishing L.A. would put their utility wires underground. I was especially charmed by the red and white blooms on some of the palm trees, ...which my grand daughters call the trees' jewelry. On Saturday morning we were busy as bees setting up for a birthday party my daughter and her family were throwing for a little friend who was turning three. We made mini-cupcakes, ...and lots more food, The party was a success. After the party was over, later that night, we went into downtown Manhattan Beach for ice cream. We went to a popular local confectionery with a whimsical interior called The Creamery, ...hanging on the wall of which I saw this sign: ...which means, "So goes life." And I thought, Bah, oui, ainsi va-t-elle - Well, yes, so it goes, ...in its own wonderfully ordinary way.
