On Friday morning after a leisurely breakfast, |
...at The Berlin Resort's great breakfast buffet, |
We started out at the German Village Center, a shopping mall at the starting point of the Berlin's strip, |
...where we shared the parking lot with cars and buggies. |
...we walked across the parking lot to Sol's Palace, a vast, multi-leveled emporium, |
...and a mecca for aficionados of country arts and crafts. |
After our visit to Sol's we decided to drive a few miles down the road to the Amish & Mennonite Heritage Center, |
...while I had a most excellent veggie wrap with french fries. |
We visited the Berlin Village Antique Mall, |
In fact I fell under the spell of this enchanting little tea pot and milk pitcher set which now resides on my kitchen counter. |
We opted for an East of Chicago pizzeria in town on the edge of the strip, that has a good pizza buffet and salad bar.
Then we returned to The Berlin Resort in time for the 7pm movie which I'd chosen that morning. |
This time I chose "You Don't Mess With The Zohan," a political satire comedy in which Adam Sandler stars as an Israeli army officer and counter-terrorism expert who dreams of becoming a hair dresser. I laughed from start to finish. |
...where Tom tried the meat loaf dinner, which he pronounced delicious, |
...and I went for a replay of the awesome veggie wrap I'd had the day before. |
We topped off the meal with a shared slice of the most wonderful cherry pie served with a side of most wonderful vanilla ice cream. |
Afterwards, going through the pictures I'd snapped during our trip I came across this one of a sign in front of one of the shops along the Berlin commercial strip:
