On Thursday morning we drove north up the coast to La Jolla, a popular resort town crowded with visitors where the packed restaurants were surprisingly not plentiful for the amount of people, like us, seeking out brunch.
We were, however, able to snag a table on the terrace of an upscale-ish place called Sugar and Scribe, |
…where the tap water was served in a stylish bottle and the iced tea in a trendy mason jar. |
Romaine ordered the Eggs Benedict,
…while I had an egg and avocado croissant, |
After our belated brunch Romaine and I walked down to the beautiful La Jolla beach, |
...where the ocean, under overcast skies, had turned from turquoise blue to blue-grey. |
The beach was crowded with tourists, |
..seals, |
...sea birds, |
...and enchanting plant life. |
After we'd strolled the beach we walked around the town for a while. |
By dinner time we found ourselves once again craving the awesome artichoke dip at The Coronado Brewing Company across from Pier South, |
...as well as the fish tacos, |
...and salad. |
...and oh-so-fluffy giant pancakes, which Romaine and I split. |
...to Moonlight Beach. |
...where the water had returned to a sparkling blue in the bright sunshine. |
...then back to the beach. |
When lunch time rolled around we drove to a cute nearby shopping center that looked promising, |
...where we found an equally cute restaurant called Rimel's Rotisserie. |
The food was good. We started out with an appetizer of sesame broccoli, |
Romaine had some yummy fish tacos with slaw, |
...while I had yummy chicken tacos with rice. |
...followed by some beautiful views from our hotel room in Imperial Beach of the fading sunlight. |
...but the following morning I was at the San Diego Airport, |
...and eight hours later was looking out the plane window over the night skyline of frigid Columbus, Ohio |
