L.A. To Monterey

     Last Thursday, March 22, Tom and I flew to Los Angeles, with a brief layover in  Chicago O'Hare, 

​...where we had just enough time to swing into a little bar along the way to our gate,

...and snag ourselves a couple of artfully presented and  extraordinarily tasty - especially for airport fare - Chicago-style dogs.

         Our plan was to spend  a day-and-a-half visiting in L.A. before heading north for several days' visit to the coastal towns of Monterey, Carmel, and Big Sur. And so before leaving Los Angeles we were able to briefly indulge in a few pleasurable local activities.
         On Friday we took a walk around the neighborhood in which we were staying, 

...stopping to smell the roses,

...as well as the other flora and fauna along the way.

     We also drove to Manhattan Beach for breakfast at a popular little spot called the Local Yolk,

      Later we took a grocery-shopping trip to Ralph's,

...(where the palm trees just make the parking lot),

     And we made a new friend.

     Early Saturday morning we were headed back to  the Los Angeles airport,

... and soon after on our way to Monterey.
