As anybody who read my post from from 9/15/2017 knows, I have joined the ranks of the legions of fans of Randy Rainbow,
... which he produces by himself in his New York City studio apartment using a computer and green screen backgrounds, as he shared in an article about himself in The Miami Herald, "with my cat sitting on the bed watching me." Randy Rainbow's cat Misha.
...breaks into hilariously clever parodies of Broadway and movie musicals,
And I must admit that since my original post back in September I have moved up from the rank of Randy Rainbow fan to Randy Rainbow superfan (probably as evidenced by the fact that I looked up a picture of his cat). Randy Rainbow tunes recently became my almost exclusive listening music of choice, having recently replaced the soundtracks of Hamilton,
Nowadays I listen to some Randy Rainbow probably every day; in fact sometimes I feel like Randy Rainbow is the only thing that's going to get me through the Trump Administration. There are dozens of Randy Rainbow selections to choose from on Youtbe, thanks to the wealth of comic material offered by Donald Trump and his crew; still I find myself always looking forward to Randy Rainbow's next release - he produces a new one about every two weeks - because, while Randy Rainbow's parodies are smart, scathing, and up-to-the-minute on world events, as is his most recent from last week, a nod to a "Rocky Horror" tune called "Sweet Indictment" ...they're also upbeat, tuneful, sing-alongable, and somehow uplifting and hope-inducing. Perhaps this is because Randy Rainbow himself, as a member of the LGBTQ community, is fearless in speaking up - or rather, singing up - up as a voice for a group whose human rights are in the cross hairs of the Trump Administration. Randy Rainbow and all the other comedians who have their work cut out for them in this golden age of satire - the one good thing that's come from Donald Trump's election - can comfort us with the knowledge that the current powers that be can destroy our rights, our safety, our well being, and our world standing as a strong and good nation; but they can never stop us from laughing at them.
