On The Beaches

On The Beaches

...Continued from previous post:
     On Saturday morning we went out for brunch to a restaurant in nearby Hermosa Beach,

...called Good Stuff,

          So we set out to walk the 21/2 miles to Hermosa Beach, ​through the neighborhoods,

​...to Hermosa Beach.

     We walked the rest of the way along the Strand, as the 22-mile walkway along the Los Angeles South Bay beaches is called,

...until we reached Good Stuff, which was plenty crowded,

​...and we had  quite a long wait,

​...though eventually we were seated.

           The food was good,

...and  I can personally vouch for the veggie wrap, which was very good,

     The following day, Sunday, was Tom's and my last day in Los Angeles, and so it was suggested that we spend the afternoon at the San Pedro tide pools, which we'd visited last year on Thanksgiving day.
      We drove out to San Pedro, stopping for lunch at a little place we found near the beach.

      Tom ordered a nicely grilled burger with potato salad,

​...while I had a so delicious grilled cheese steak sandwich with grilled red onions that - dare I say this? - might well give a Philly cheese steak a run for its money, despite the bread format and the wrong color onions.

     After lunch we continued on to the tide pool beach,

​....which was at the bottom of a sunken canyon.

     Though it turned out that we'd come at low tide, when the pools would be at their driest and emptiest,

...still there were plenty of tide poolers out in the shallow spots of sea water scattered among the stones,

​...looking for  glimpses of sea treasures,

...such as whimsical  anemones,

​...or this star fish in his habitat.

    Others were happy to play in the tide,

...or with the stones,

...or to sit on the beach,

...or to stroll around taking in the beautiful vistas.

     Then suddenly the week was over, and Monday morning we were back in the L.A. airport,

...then back in Columbus,

​...where we again could be "One of Us!" (See posts from  4/29/2018 and 4/30/2018).
