Since last Thursday  I've been in Portland, Oregon visiting my sister Romaine.
It's been a great visit.  Visits to Portland are always great visits. I love Portland.
       How do I love Portland?

I love that within walking distance of Romaine's house there are dozens to places to eat;  during my visit I snapped all the above photos as we walked to and from one or another local eatery.
Is there good food to be had in the Sunnyside?
    Ooooooh yeah!
Tune in tomorrow for where. 8)
    To be continued...

I, too, am now painting again. I used to paint with the kids when they were little. I found it very relaxing. I have now taken it up again. when someone in the community is ill or has a birthday, I paint them a picture

That's great, Joe. I wish that I, too, could paint. (Pretty ironic that I can't, considering I'm the one Mom sent to art school! You and Romaine should have gone). I imagine sitting in front of an easel by a sunny window for hours creating something slowly, stroke by stroke. It seems wonderful. I'd like to see some of your stuff sometime.

Ah you make everything look so nice and of course Portland is always that much nicer when you are here to visit.
Will miss you!
Also - would love to see some of your pictures Joe - will you send some photos in email?

I intended to catch up with your blog chronologically, but I just spen 20 minutes in Portland...I want to live in Romaine's neighborhood: I want to visit her home and see the marvelous whimsy of her mermaids, fish, colored glass, and the angel on the newel post, and look at her paintings, especially Grow and the dancers. And then I want to walk down her streets, have tea I the Laughing Planet and sit in the garden walkway. And I would never tire of walking by the marvelous houses, such cozy architecture and colors--love the orange house.

And I'd truly love to spend time with Romaine: I know she is lovely, bright, and so artsy!

But is I lived in Romaine's neighborhood, I couldn't play piano with you, so I guess I'll stay here.

Miss you..have a wonderful time!

Marianne,
You are welcome to come and visit any time or next time Patti comes. The summer and early fall are best times - as they are the driest. But the spring is full of flowers and beautiful. Winter is dark and rainy - but still green.
Although you can't really read it from the picture - the painting named "grow" is actually "groovy".
The dancers picture is named "spirit lovers". When Rick - my husband was in hospice he asked me to do a painting that represented the two of us. I sketched it out while he was still in hospice so he could see it and then finished it two years later. There is a series of art work that corresponds to our relationship together and involves my friend Alisa - who is a professional artist. Maybe Patti will let me do a guest blog on it sometime.

A blog about your artwork would be most interesting. How wonderful to remember Rick in art.
