The ABC Store And A Poke Bowl Picnic

...Continued from yesterday:

​    After we finished snorkeling  Wednesday morning at Hanauma Bay (see yesterday's post),

 ...we returned to the Hale Koa, the lobby of which was set up with the local crafts vendors who bring their wares to hotel two mornings a week.

     We decided to meet up again in the lobby around noon then walk into downtown Waikiki, 

…and get lunch at an ABC Store.
​         The ABC Store is a Honolulu-based convenience chain that sells sundries, souvenirs, Hawaiian clothes, snacks, necessities,

...just about anything one might find oneself in need of.

  In Waikiki one cannot walk far without coming to an ABC Store,

....so that it’s said that ABC stands for “All Blocks Covered.” That’s accurate. 

​     In Honolulu the the ABC Stores are ubiquitous.

    On Tom's and my last visit to Waikiki in 2017 we discovered an ABC Store not far from the Hale Koa, next to the Imperial Hotel on Lewers Street,

...that has a wonderful deli that sells all kinds of great lunch options,

​...including poke bowls.
    A poke (pronounced "pokey") bowl is a bowl of rice topped with some combination of raw or cooked seafood and/ or vegetables.

      And so it was to this ABC Store that we headed.
      We bought our lunch from the deli counter,

...then we walked back to a park next to the Hale Koa,

...for a picnic,

...of poke bowls.
