I've been to Los Angeles on numerous occasions at different times of the year and seen the striking flora and fauna on display there all year round.

But to see L.A. blooming in all its Mediterranean glory there's no time like mid-May.
During our visit for the last two weeks of May colorful flowers appeared to be climbing over walls,

...and through fences,
...and onto rooftops.
Flowers bloomed in the trees,
...in gardens everywhere,
...and pretty much all around the town.
There were flowers everywhere, growing effortlessly, all thanks the gift of balmy Mediterranean biology.
...or so a bloom-struck visitor like me would think.
