The Presidio of Monterey is the U.S. Army post on which is located the Defense Language Institute, the Army's school of foreign languages study. |
On this post is also located a hotel that quarters military personnel on temporary duty or military families who are still waiting for their housing assignments. |
However, retired military members and their spouses may also stay here on a space-available basis, |
...as Tom and I were able to do during our trip to Monterey. |
Our room in the post hotel was basic but clean and fine for our needs, |
...and had a great refrigerator, |
…though we agreed that the bathroom could probably use an update. |
Among the hotel's amenities were a work-out room, |
...a nice breakfast room where a continental breakfast was served, |
...which finally begins coming into view in its glory as one approaches the post exit gate, |
...not to mention the view from the post Subway restaurant where we ate lunch soon after arriving, |
...which we figure must have one of the the best views on the planet from a Subway. |
