TOMMY AND EMILY'S WEDDING, PART ONE: JOYFUL PRELUDE
Last Sunday, July 3, my son Tommy and his fiancée Emily were married,
...at Swan Lake Event Center,
...in Powell, Ohio, a suburb of Columbus.
It was a joyful event, as wedding celebrations tend to be. But for us the celebration began with a joyful prelude starting the week before in the wee hours of Saturday, June 25 when my daughter, son-in-law, and grand daughters arrived from Los Angeles.
It was a joyful event, as wedding celebrations tend to be. But for us the celebration began with a joyful prelude starting the week before in the wee hours of Saturday, June 25 when my daughter, son-in-law, and grand daughters arrived from Los Angeles.
And so the week proceeded with family meals,
...including a back-yard weenie roast,
...followed by a marshmallow toast.
There were family bike rides,
...and family runs.
There were visits to the neighbors and their cute lhasa apsos.
There were shopping trips,
...and a trip to the downtown library,
...where the girls were allowed to hold the baby chicks.
They worked,
...and played,
...and helped in the garden,
...and hung out,
...and loved on the kitty,
...and each other.
On Thursday the joy was multiplied when Claire and Miguel arrived.
...and there were more bike rides,
...and more meals.
And why not pie, ice cream and cinnamon rolls for breakfast?
After all, we were celebrating.
